In quarantine it might seem hard to learn another language without a proper teacher in front of you telling you what to do, but here are a few things to improve your Mandarin skills at home:
One thing to try and do in a day, is to sit down and try to learn a couple of new words each day. This helps expanded your vocabulary and helps open up what you can say in mandarin.
You can use LMCs YouTube videos which, teach you how to pronounce and learn the pinyin and Chinese characters
Another thing is learning it with another person in the house or a friend that way you can keep each other motivated and don’t get lazy with it. It is also a good way to practice your mandarin as you can have someone to converse to, improve your skills and speak confidently to.
You could also listen to Chinese music; this helps you familiarise with the language and help you improve your mandarin skills by learning the pronunciations and learning how to translate words throughout the song. My favourite song is 勋章 (Medals) by Luhan
Last but not least is my favourite thing to do is watch Chinese Tv dramas, this is also a good way to familiarise yourself with the pronunciation and possibly learn new words and learn how to translate it easily. You can find many Chinese dramas on Netflix. Personally, some of my favourites include the untamed and Handsome siblings.
Other apps you could download is an app called iQIYI it has many Chinese dramas in it, so you have a wide range of dramas to watch during quarantine.
